Simply translated to “Hippo Manor”, our tranquil, luxury bush retreat overlooks the banks of the magnificent Olifants River in the Limpopo region of South Africa.

Our beautiful South African lodge is surrounded by mature riverine vegetation. Leadwood, Knobthorn and Weeping Boerbean trees provide shade in the garden and the building itself is built using a combination of thatch and stone, with many natural materials used throughout.

When you stay at with us, the whole house is exclusively for you. Meaning it’s the perfect place for families, adventurous travellers or those who want some privacy and peace. We charge by the room, giving you and your group ultimate exclusivity without the hefty price tag.

Mpfuvu Manor will help you switch off from the busy world. Our lodge has been designed with relaxation in mind. So whether you’re relaxing after a day on safari or a day in Hoedspruit, during your stay with us you can enjoy using the; pool, swim bar, outdoor lapa, fire pit and brai area, elevated viewing lounge, kitchen, kitchen lounge, dining area at your leisure.

Our lodge sleeps eight people in four individual ensuite guest rooms complete with Egyptian cotton linen, towels and all bathroom toiletries. Our honeymoon suite Torchwood has French doors that look over the beautiful and vibrant Olifants river.

If you are looking to sleep 10 people, a 5th bedroom can be arranged on request.

Preserving the iconic African wildlife, flora and fauna that you see in and around the gardens at Mpfuvu Manor is important to us. Through how we operate the lodge, we actively try to contribute to conservation efforts in South Africa.

In the near future, we aim to have Mpfuvu Manor powered by solar panels, and currently, we use refillable bathroom and cleaning products where possible.

From the lodge, we can explore Pridelands, Umfula, Manyeleti, Greater Kruger and Kruger Park amongst other locations. Observe wildlife roaming freely and watch the sun rise and set over some of the largest areas of biodiversity in Africa.

Our viewing lounge overlooks the Olifants River so after a day on safari, or a day relaxing by the pool, catch up with the rest of your group from our private viewing lounge and wait to see hippos drinking in the river or maybe even a crocodile in the garden.
