Mpfuvu Manor Lodge is located on the banks of the Olifants River in the Lowveld bush just 20km north of Hoedpsruit, in the Limpopo region of South Africa.

Getting to our South African Lodge

Located off R40 between Hoedspruit and Mica, Mpfuvu Manor is easily accessible and is just 40 minutes from Hoedspruit airport. Simply take the Hippo Pools / Ekuthuleni turnoff and follow past Hippo pools and airstrip and through to number 22.

Parking is available free of charge at the lodge.

Collection from the airport can be arranged for an additional fee. We are also happy to give advice on flights, airport taxes, entry visas and any additional information you may need to be aware of.

The surrounding area

For a South Africa holiday destination, Hoedspruit has it all. Surrounded by the largest privately owned conservation area in the world and the gateway to Kruger National Park, Hoedspruit is a thriving town with arts and crafts markets, amenities, shops and a number of good bars and restaurants. Now a popular destination for travellers, Hoedpsruit is also known for specialising in Mango and Citrus production.

Your stay at our South African lodge is based on full board, should you wish the explore local restaurants we’re more than happy to pass on recommendations. Within a ten-minute drive of the lodge are two restaurants that Graham, Maja and Steve enjoy visiting: Three Bridges and Thirsty Giraffe.

In Hoedspruit town itself, there’s Africology Spa, a number of restaurants offering tapas, sushi and African cuisine, river cruises, horse riding and hot air ballooning. Check out our blog – our 5 favourite things to do in Hoedspruit.

For those interested in spotting wildlife and exploring the local area, from the lodge we can explore Pridelands, Umfula, Manyeleti, Greater Kruger and Kruger Park amongst other locations. Manyeleti Gate is 50 minutes away, another thriving town, Phalaborwa, is close by and the Orpen Gate in Kruger Park is within an hour. There are nice walking trails in the reserves near the lodge and occasionally we spot leopards, hyenas and wild dogs.

The beauty of South Africa

The famous Panorama Route is easily accessible from Hoedspruit and takes in the natural attractions in the area. You’ll go through beautiful villages, pass through wildlife reserves, flow past cascading waterfalls, be in awe of dramatic gorges and towering cliff edges.

An hour and a half away from the lodge is one of the largest canyons on earth – the Blyde River Canyon. Situated in Mpumalanga province, measuring 25 km in length and averaging 2,460 ft in depth, it’s well worth a visit. Amazing scenery and diverse wildlife await you in this beautiful, breathtaking landscape..

Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is also close by and offers a unique experience to all nature enthusiasts. Home to South Africa’s injured, abandoned and poisoned wildlife, Moholoholo has a handful of permanent residents and where possible seeks to rehabilitate and return animals to their natural environment once they have recovered. The team there are dedicated conservationists committed in preserving Africa’s wildlife. The centre is well worth a visit.

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) is another conservation and rehabilitation centre well worth visiting during your stay at Mpfuvu Manor. For over 30 years, the team have supported conservation by focusing on the survival of endangered species, particularly cheetahs and rhinos.
